Factions are a greater group of which every player is a member - your faction is chosen during character creation.[1] Your choice of faction will alter the availability of Races and Classes.[2]
There will be two factions [3]:
Each faction has its own cities[4], and cannot group or communicate with members of the opposite faction.[5][6]
