There will be multiple factions, although it is not yet known how a character becomes a member of a specific faction, nor what the available factions are. It will be up to the community to decide on the interactions, so faction interactions will be different from server to server. Your race will not tie you to a specific faction, and you are not born into a faction - they are a personal choice, [1]and optional.[2]
- Controlling territories while a member of a faction will grant exclusive access to 'epic rewards'.[3]
- Factions are involved in PvP, which is faction-based. You 'join a faction and fight for it'.[1]
- Factions also relate to NPCs and your reputation in a different faction can result in outcomes like being assisted in a heroic quest[4].
