Parrying is the act of using a weapon to deflect an incoming attack. It is a mean of physical Damage mitigation.
Game mecanics[]
Physical attacks can be parried, either melee or ranged. A parried attack will not deal damage, and will not trigger additional effects it would have caused.
The main attribute for parry is the parry rating, as displayed in the character sheet. 1 strength provides 1 parry rating.
The chance to parry an incomming attack is :
ParryChance = X * ParryRating
With X being a factor that depends on the level of the player, as found on the following table [1]:

17 | 0.0625 |
20 | 0.0447 |
31 | 0.0284 |
50 | 0.0162 |
As you gain levels, you need to stack more parry rating to keep the same parry chance.
