10 December 2009 - All's quiet on the Trion Front

Trion has said nothing in ages and has lost the two main CMs over the last few months, but Chris Mancil has posted to say they're just doing development and remaining quiet for now. The curent plan is to start releasing information again in early 2010. Read about it on Telara Central, here.

22 October 2009 - Executive changes at Trion.

David Reid, (a former executive at online game publisher NCSoft, has joined Trion as senior vice president of publishing. Reid also headed marketing at Turner’s Gametap division before it was sold and marketing of Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Scott Hartsman, a veteran MMO developer, has also joined Trion as chief creative officer and head of the company’s studio in Redwood City which is responsible for Heroes of Telara. He previously co-founded social gaming company Ohai in early 2008, but he left that job in July. Before Ohai, he had created a number of MMOs at Sony. Meanwhile, Trion lost its vice president of technology, Jay Lee. Read the original article at VentureBeat here.

16 October 2009 - Senior Community Manager Stephen Reid leaves Trion.

Nothing official has been written by Trion, yet, but Stephen Reid announced he is leaving Trion to start with Gazzilion Entertainment. We wish him the best, and hopefully Trion announces who is taking his place soon. Read his personal blog post here.

16 September 2009 - The screenshot captioning contest from 09 September is almost finished at Telara Central and Trion will be at Austin GDC.

Take a look at the thread at Telara Central now to cast your vote for the winning screenshot. And, Trion's Community Director, Chris Mancil, is hosting the 'Making the Grade' panel at Austin GDC today.

09 September 2009 - Trion has worked with Telara Central to do a screenshot captioning contest. Add am amusing caption to a screenshot and you could win a Heroes of Telara T-shirt and a Trion Pillow.

03 September 2009 - A screenshot of a dwarf in Gloamwood on a mount was released today, along with concept art of an officer in the Scion Cartel.

28 August 2009 - Artist John Dickenson is featured in ImagineFX magazine, where he discusses creating concept artwork for Heroes of Telara. The article features some artwork not yet seen anywhere else (aside from being unconfirmed on the artist's site), one of a city seemingly carved out of sandstone cliffs in a desert, as well as a forest settlement, and another island settlement.

26 August 2009 - New screenshots of Silverwood and Treants released, along with concept art of a cottage in Gloamwood and a vision of Deepstrike Mines, where "magic is carved from stone."

22 July 2009 - ...The majority of the world of Telara is persistent and not instanced, yes. We wanted the world to be persistent, in part, just so it feels more ‘real’, but also so we can stage massive events that involve a large number of players. Our server technology allows us to do this. However, in addition to that, we also have classic instanced dungeons along with high-level raid content.

22 July 2009 - ...It's set in your standard-issue fantasy world of a quasi-medieval Europe without quite so much disease or horse crap on the streets. Where Heroes of Telara departs from the formula is in character roles. While the roles themselves have not changed appreciably, a single character is capable of doing any one of these jobs at any given time. Outside of combat, a character can change his or her base class whenever the player feels like it, going from fighter to mage to thief to cleric without a noticeable penalty. Anyone can tank; anyone can heal; anyone can do damage...

20 July 2009 - Most MMOs are halfway towards this state of play by default, but Trion's complete dedication to it makes it possible, Telara lead Russ Brown reckons, to create a much more flexible "live" world that you can currently see in its MMORPG competitors. The world-state can be changed on the fly by both developer and player, and events can more easily be triggered at a scheduled time...But if it wants to attract a broader audience and bring home a sizeable slice of that ever-elusive MMO cash pie, Trion will have to try to squeeze a little more personality into Heroes of Telara's derivative fantasy setting.
