While you can feel free to discuss this Wiki page here in typical Wiki Style, I recommend using the Telarapedia Forums for proper discussions. This link will take you to the discussion forum for the Telarapedia site. --Cio

Other Languages

Telarapedia is looking for people to take care of the wiki in languages other than English. Let us know if you'd like to help out and we'll see what we can do. Any language will be setup like de.telarapedia.com. --Ciovala Talk 18:16, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Where to suggest changes to this page

If you have ideas for new layouts for the front page, edit Mainpage/Editcopy.--Ciovala Talk 19:34, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

The game is approaching open beta, don't know how long the alpha is running. There is also an early release for players pre-ordering the game, imo February 24th. I added these information to Beta. The word Release (or Beta) on the main page might as well link there. --Mardur 10:24, 11 February 2011 (CST)

I suggest adding Role to the ClassInfoBox

I suggest the there be a Soul Role in the Class info box template.--Knighthonor 06:43, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Skin name

This skin is now 'darkwiki' and is default. The 1.16 Vector skin in its unedited glory (this is based on that code btw) is selectable in your preferences. --Ciovala Talk 19:19, 21 January 2011 (CST)

Some Suggestions

  • Artifacts need some more presence on the wiki. They're pretty heavily left out. Perhaps adding in more options to the item template or making an entirely new template for Artifacts/Collections would work.
  • Achievements also have the same issue: no presence. There should probably be an "Add Achievement" template so achievements can be added along with a description of how they can be done etc.
  • I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I feel like a spell template would help a lot. The reasoning behind this is because of micromechanics which cannot be explained in a few lines where they're listed right now (under "<soul> abilities"). Not really a big issue, but I feel it could help.
  • When you preview an item after filling out the form, the background color is white and makes the text impossible to read without highlighting.

I should have more later, so I'll be back to work for now. :) --SinisteRing 17:06, 30 January 2011 (CST)

Hi there! Sorry a few of us are swamped! To directly answer some of your bullets:
  • Totally, I started on it if you check the Artifact page for an initial list, but we have to go through the rest of the data here, and then break out even further, agreed.
  • Also agreed but there are a million things to do and only so many people editing at the moment so I think the focus has been on items and tooltips. Please feel free to show some mockups and we can do our best to recreate them in wikitext, etc.
  • The same now for spell templates, if you see a good example I can try and recreate in wiki text.
  • Ahh I see. If you have google chrome or firefox, can you tell it to look at that white text? I need to know what code it is reading there so I can change it (probably some semantic mediawiki css hidden in a file). Either way I can do some testing tomorrow evening about this myself. I appreciate the information and help you have provided. The wiki is a huge endeavour! :) --Ciovala Talk 18:20, 1 February 2011 (CST)
Hey, in regards to the spell template I'll see if I can find a sliding value for the damage if I can might be able to build some basic smarts into it, otherwise... it will require some manual entries of spell damage for specific levels (which will most likely be the case). As for creating artifact pages you can use {{Item artifact}} on individual pages itself. Maygus talk cont 18:27, 1 February 2011 (CST)
Awesome. I'll start using the Item artifact template to see if I can get some of the artifact items I have information on started. As for spell templates, I don't mind putting in manual numbers at all, so whatever rough outline of a template is possible to make works for me. --SinisteRing 18:37, 1 February 2011 (CST)

Special:Ask

Anyone have an idea how we can make it look better? Apparently the remaining off-colour bit is due to hardcoding in a php file:

                        // 3 values per row, with alternating colors for rows
                        if ( $i % 3 == 0 ) {
                                $bgcolor = ( $i % 6 ) == 0 ? '#dddddd' : 'white';
                                $text .= "<div style=\"background: $bgcolor;\">";
                        }

Obviously it needs to be skin agnostic so I'd rather it cycle between css stylings of some sort. --Ciovala Talk 14:23, 2 February 2011 (CST)

I suppose the best way to go forward with this would be to edit the core files and change those hardcoded colours to be .css classes. However for the main body I did
.fieldset div {
background-color: #ccc;
}
and that APPEARS to have captured the main portion of it. But looks like some corners got missed. Maygus talk cont 08:50, 4 February 2011 (CST)

Templates

Thinking into the future... Should we rename some of the templates (as others have suggested) to be like questbox, npcbox, etc.? It would make it easier to do tooltips... --Ciovala Talk 16:15, 3 February 2011 (CST)

That would be nice from an editors point of view. As a convention we can make {{{xxxbox|details}}} for the infobox on page xxx and {{{xxx|Name|more options}}} to create links to that page (displaying tooltip if exists, link to form if not). --Mardur 09:06, 11 February 2011 (CST)

Full Suggestion List

I've been keeping track of the things that have bugged me about trying to put data on Telarapedia, and this is what I've come up with so far. I hope you take this as the constructive criticism it is.

--- Artifact Template ---

  • When multiple artifact sets are specified, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. ones are indented another space or two. The sets in-game are listed at the same indentation.
    • Maygus: Fixed

--- Item Template/Form ---

  • Adding categorization functionality to the item type would help a lot, I think. When an "Uncommon" item is created, it is added to the category "Category:Uncommon Items" and when an "Epic" item is created it is added to the category "Category:Epic Items" etc. I think this could also be applied to level-based items, i.e. "Category:Level 28 Items" etc. This would help because everyone looks for the best type of items, and having these categories makes that easier.
    • Maygus: Added some more auto-category options. If no |quality= is definded it will default to Category:Common Items otherwise it will go to relevant 'quality' loot categories.
    • Maygus: Done the same for level selection.
  • There is 2 "Block" fields in the Item Form. I think one is meant to be "Dodge" but is labelled incorrectly.
    • Maygus: I'll give this a poke

--- NPC Template/Form ---

  • The NPC Form has an option saying "NPC Type:" with the options "Trainer", "Vendor", and "Other NPC". I think this could either be removed or expanded. If expanded, I'd suggest removing the generic "Trainer", replacing it with "Profession Trainer" and "Class Trainer" (or perhaps Warrior/Rogue/Mage/Cleric Trainer), and finally adding "Quest Giver". Allowing these to be checkboxes and not making it mandatory would allow for stronger categorization and make more sense to people when they're putting in an NPC.

--- Quest Template/Form ---

  • I think that there needs to be a "Story" checkbox for Quest Type in the Quest Form.
    • Maygus: I was considering this, shall we colour the background differently for story quests too? So that at a glance people know?
      • Sin: Might be a good idea. I guess try it out and see what happens?
      • Ciovala - I have added a stor option.
  • The "Solo" option for Quest Type in the Quest Form is something I never use, since I've never seen a quest where it requires you to be solo thus far.
    • Maygus: Agreed, there are some that are for groups, but I doubt they'd force a quest to be 'solo'. If that happens it can be re-added.
    • Ciovala - Yeah probably don't need. I was a placeholder since Trion had said they were going to do some personal quests but so far they haven't. Let's leave it until level 50 is seen then revisit.
  • I'm not sure why there are "Calling" and "Race" options for the quests, as I usually never use them. Just mentioning it.
    • Ciovala - There are both calling and race quests in the game.
  • Make the zone options a list box instead of radio buttons. I don't add in information with a fullscreen browser, so the radio buttons sometimes go off the screen for me. It would also make it look much more condensed and easier to use. This might also go well with the faction spot on the form as well.
    • Maygus: By Box do you mean dropdown?
      • Sin: Dropdown or a list, like when you choose the zone for NPC's you have a list of items you can just pick from. The same goes for NPC faction affiliation. Take a look at the NPC form and you'll see what I mean.
    • Ciovala - Fixed (I added a bunch of comments here yesterday but lost them). So far just changed zones.
  • Remove Item Reward, and add in 1 or two more Other Reward slots. This should help condense the information and items will be [[{{{2}}}| [{{{2}}}]]]'d instead of just a normal link to them. It also gives an area for "Choose on of these:" to be put in as the first slot in case it's only one of the items which can be chosen.
    • Maygus: I have an idea for this, perhaps a checkbox for "multiple rewards" and then the appropriate boxes below for inputting reward options. Thus far I've never seen more than 4, so shall we limit it to 4 Item rewards for now? I'll add extra notes if there are "multiple" loot awards.
      • Sin: I've seen 7 rewards. Early on there's a quest which allows you to choose between one of 5 different lesser scrolls and it also provides you with like... a health potion and mana potion. I think 7 or 8 would be the most reasonable amount of choices.
  • Reputation Reward does not have any affect, it is broken.
    • Maygus: can you give an example of what it should be doing?
      • Sin: Some quests have this text as a reward: "Your notoriety will change: 450 with Quicksilver Scholars" I put it under the "Reputation Reward" on the Quest Form and it didn't work. :(
      • Ciovala - This is potentially fixed and it also lets you specify the faction.
      • Maygus: This is working now.

--- New Suggestions ---

  • Mob Form for adding mobs. NPC form works for vendors, quest-givers, trainers, etc. However, I'm not sure it works very well for mobs since it doesn't have HP, spells/abilities, etc.
    • Maygus: Well Mobs do have HP, spells/abilities, etc. We just don't really see them. If you check your combat log, often you'll see "mob X hits player for XX damage with swipe" or some other such description.
      • That's what the mob template/form is for: making it a bit more specific and separating the vendors/trainers/etc. NPC's from the mobs.
  • Artifact Form for adding artifacts. I realize how to use templates, but a form would help me greatly.
    • Maygus: I'll give this a poke. Haven't looked at the forms in great depth before.
    • Maygus: This is now done.

For any confusion as to why I'm changing the main page

Just letting you guys know that this is a Curse staff member, don't worry, it's not a hostile take over!! --Bumbletalk 16:59, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

"Official Exclusive Screenshots" section

(I hope this is the correct place for this...I'm new to the whole Wiki thing)

The lowermost section of the main page ("Official Exclusive Screenshots") seems to be a bit...dated. It appears to be a widget that was meant to show the latest screenshots released by Trion back before the game hit the hands of consumers. Since there hasn't been anything new in that category it seems to now just be a static display of the two same pictures (Droughtlands and Twyll).

Now, I know even less about the technology involved in Wiki sites such as this, but perhaps it would be possible to replace this section with something a bit more interesting. Maybe a simple feed of the most recently-uploaded image(s) or something? Just an idea, anyway. User:Alerik/sig 20:51, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
